I cleaned these up and then epoxy coated them and painted that.  They came out nice.

 

Three coats of black epoxy sanded and painted.

 

Nice looking now.

 

But before I got to the nice looking stage, they looked like this:

 

Just surface rust and in need of a bit of buildup work.

 

 

I know that you can get aftermarket stuff, but I did the epoxy coat and sanding method.
