I decided to NOT use the combo sender for two reasons:
1.It is a super tight fit that can require a pipe extension into the case. That is next to the distributor, a very tight space if you do the pipe method.
2.An article by one of the VW-Bug suppliers noted huge pressure differences for the combo-sender idiot-light pressure being too low (triggering red lights) compared to actual pressure and they recommended a splitter for two senders coming from one hose that feeds into the sensor hole in the case. I used a Porsche 928 front brake hose and t T-Fitting.
NOTE: The hose MUST be installed with a crush washer or it will leak down through the oil cooler. Yeah, ask me how I know that? I purchased a truck fuel injector socket with a wide hose slot to remove my bad hose setup (very easy) and then used KurelK2 and a crush washer to resolve my setup mistake.
The mount noted below is from a leftover rear CV plate that I bent over an old screwdriver in a vise (it is hardened and will crack if just bent in a vise). This offset moves the sensor mount just a bit away form the distributor and it looks good too.

Notice the wire terminating at the mounting bolt of the sender; that is grounding the body of the sender to the mounting bolt and it has a 1" stripped section of wire sitting under the rubber clamp. The white wire is my add-on through the harness for the pressure gauge. The original green with red stripe is the idiot-light sensor for low oil pressure.
NOTE: The oil pressure with 20-50 oil starts at 60psi and when the engine is warmed it settles at about 10-12psi and I get about 10PSI per 1000 rpm's (e.g., 30psi at 3000 rpm's).

This is the custom gauge pod wiring that is behind the ashtray now. Keep the wired separated from shorting and you can put sleeving over the joints or use plastic VW-style spade sleeves if desired.
