The early 914 license plate lights are mounted into the rubber bumper top with two screws each.  The later 75-76 cars have the lights on the side of the license plates.  Also, the earlier cars had two grommets for the two wire pairs leading to the lights while the later 75-76 cars had one grommet hole to feed a split wire to the two lights.  Because I am using a 76 car, there is one wire grommet hole and thus I'll solder a harness to split the signal to the two lights.  Because I am using LED lights, there is not much load to worry about and the two are probably just a fraction of the 4W limit per socket.

 

My lights were broken and I was able to drill a small hole and make a wire tab for the ground wire.  It's a delicate drilling operation and it takes some patience, but it works great.  A little solder was used to lock those in place and solder could have been used without the screws if you have a hot enough solder iron.  As most of us know, these cars will not be stored outdoors and will not see too much rain over their future lives and the solution is solid for the purpose.  It's also fun to rescue old parts when you can,

 

Looks like Automobile Atlanta just made some nice replicas at a better price than URO.  My rig-job will get replaced.
