An old and dented header with POR15 High-Heat paint. Muffler was replaced in September of 2026 for several reasons, but valance clearance has now been improved. Sounds OK, not super deep and wild like the round SS mufflers, but I don't wake the neighbors when I leave for cars and coffee.
Painted and Ends dressed for new copper exhaust studs and gaskets:

These are similar to the Euro-Headers, probably an earlier design. The rust pock-marks are from the prior owner having them wrapped in fiberglass high-heat wrap. It tends to hold water as it cools. I did not re-wrap these.

Note the high-heat Teflon sheathing and heat shielding around the clutch cable and speedometer near the header. Highly recommended and inexpensive. The reflective wrap has a Velcro strip. I used a silicone version of heat shielding for the clutch cable and then the silver foil stuff over that.

Stock 914 header mount was used with tabs welded to the muffler pipes. here it is on the lift at the muffler shop as they level it. NO, that arrow is not pointing the wrong way, it has two arrows, but you can't see the other side of it from the muffler jack.

The rusty original was sand-blasted and painted with POR15 high-heat paint. The muffler joint to the tailpipe bend was loose when I replaced the muffler:
