Lots of sanding and cleanup for this engine deck-lid:

 

Orientation of the torsion bars in the deck-lid and notice the carbon buildup from the carbureted engine lack of a good catch-can for the oil.  It all sanded out and cleaned-up nicely with a respray.  This is the before pic that needed careful sanding and attention.  I eventually painted the torsion rods black and that contrast is great:

 

Center mount uses a plastic clam-shell bushing in the middle.
