Joe's 914 Project

Cleaned-up and not too shabby, but it took a lot to get to this phase.  The wiring harness sheathing was tough and it requires removing some of the pin connectors to the relay board.

The shift bushing was replaced after this picture was taken.

Before the silicone self-amalgamating tape, but notice that the harness snorkel is wrapped with it.:

New sheathing, even inside the cracked snorkel.  This also carries two extra wires (the Oil Pressure Sender and the extra 12V Red wire to the fuse-block):

Wires taped for abrasion reduction:

The 75' and 76" cars have a larger snorkel diameter and hole in the firewall because the ignition wire was upgraded and the fuel pump wire went to the front trunk in those years.  That snorkel part is not available.

But is started out a bit differently:

The driver-side engine shelf was terrible.  The tube coming from the firewall is for the rear engine lid cable release and that area was all rust and was replaced at the firewall.

Lower firewall was solid.

Note the clean patch into the firewall and the restored slope into the longitudinal member that extends down the right side of the passenger compartment.  That is all fabricated metal.  I did remove the engine shelf that holds the engine seal and replaced it on both sides of the engine-bay.
