The initial mess on the driver's side looked like this.  Tabs sticking out are for the relay board.  Notice the drain hole.  It curves down and out like the original with a little bit of socket-wrench sockets and slow medium taps:

 

The engine shelf part was not yet available from Restoration Design in 2014 (it is available now).  Took some time to remove a shelf from the donor car and welded that onto a piece that I hand bent.  Ultimately this area had way too much burn through from thinned metal rusting and the underside of the engine shelf was a mess.  I did eventually get the driver's side engine shelf replacement because what you see below did not work:

 

Look you can see the engine compartment frm the driver's compartment... The hole is bigger than it looked with painted rust...

 

 

A part to fill the hole is made.  Holes are for plunge welds:

 

Driver's side repair part fitment, just a bit more grinding and then it was welded in flat.  Actually stronger than stock.
